Picture Perfect Friday ~ Unusual

Each week I thank you, Heather for the amazing PPF.

Because it truly is wonderful the people that it brings together

and the fun that it generates.

Another fun filled week and more and more people

are joining the fun!

Unusual
adj 1: not usual or common or ordinary; "a scene of unusual
beauty"; "a man of unusual ability"; "cruel and

2: being definitely out of the ordinary and unexpected;
slightly odd or even a bit weird; "a strange exaltation
that was indefinable"; "a strange fantastical mind"; "what

3: not commonly encountered; "two-career families are no longer
unusual"

It should come as no surprise to those that know me and my

love for trees that my unusual would be an unusual tree. I

took this picture on a third trip to Cade's Cove with a friend.

After passing this unusual tree I ask him to please turn

around and go back so I could make a picture. I suppose at

one time vines and/or other bushes had wrapped themselves

around the tree causing the unusual shape but I thought

it was interesting. Interesting also, because a bad storm had

been through here and distroyed many of the trees but

this unusual mis-shaped tree still stood tall and proud.

Of course, it was taken with my Kodak Z740 digital camera

(How did I ever leave home before I had it)

Once a very wise teacher was speaking

to a group of eager young students. He

gave them the assignment to go out and

find an unusual, unnoticed tree somewhere.

He asked them to study the tree for a long time.

"Look at the bark and the unusual shape

of the branches. Get a magnifying glass

and study the delicate veins in the leaves,

and notice the nuances and shades of color.

Turn the leaves slowly and observe their

symmetry. And remember that this tree

might have gone unnoticed and unappreciated

if you had not found and admired it."

After the class returned, the teacher observed,

"People are like that. Each one is different or

unusual, carefully crafted, uniquely endowed.

But you have to spend time with them to know

this. So many people go unnoticed and

unappreciated because no one has ever taken time

with them and admired their unusual uniqueness."
