PICTURE PERFECT

This is week 3 of the 6 week competition.

Hosted this week by:

The theme for week three is:

"Focused"

Photobucket

I remember the day I received my Canon XS.. I immediately went outside,
laid on the ground and took pictures of some snapdragon flowers,
which were in my front yard.  The camera was set on auto
(As I knew nothing about the settings).
What excitement I felt when it focused on the flower
and the background was a blur... lol... it just seemed so beautiful to me.
It is now well over a year later and I still haven't "learned" my camera settings
(It's a plan... must be saving it for retirement),
but I still get excited with every "focused" picture.
This one was taken leaving work one morning... ran to the car and got my camera.
It was a simple pink daisy... they were on their way out and a bee
but when I put them on my computer and they come flashing across the screen..
to me they are just as beautiful as the one the first day...
lol, but than they say, "Beauty is in the eye's of the beholder."

  6. Linda what a great shot. I know that feeling well. Just a little over two years ago I had it for the first time and I still get it every time.
I too shoot with the XS and I will help you learn setting in August. Not that I am the best at it sometimes I have to practice a lot.

  9. Heather did a wonderful thing when she started this group...what four or five years ago. You had your camera in the car....and you were looking at the world around you even though you had just got off a long night of a very hard job!!! Because of Heather, I never leave home without my camera and I know you don't either. We see the world in a different way than we did before, sometimes we see the beauty in the details like this photo and other times the whole big picture like a huge canvas. We've learned so much about photography from the others in this group and everyone is always so willing to share what they know. That and all the wonderful life-long friends we've made here.

I love how the focus is on the bee and daisy with the background blurred too. Did you ever learn how to do it on purpose?

  10. O gods do not feel bad about reading up on the settings. I think it is because "canon" chose to put it on computer rather than a hand held book. It took me til this year to even LOOK at it! ROFL Just to find? Damn it should have done it sooner! They actually have a snowman setting! Anyway! LOL I love your shot of course Bees are my favorite! It is beautiful and you should be proud of it!
